SRINAGAR, MARCH 17 (KNO) : The 11th State Conference of Jammu and Kashmir CPI (M) is being held at SKICC in Srinagar on March 19th and 20th. In the two-day Conference, delegates from across the state will deliberate over political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and failure of the Government to respond to the emerging situation and discuss necessity of mobilizing the democratic forces to put pressure on the Government to initiate a credible dialogue, both at internal and external levels.

They will also deliberate upon the unfortunate incidents of killing of unarmed civilians, especially youth in recent firing incidents in the Valley and urge the Government to put an end to this killing spree. Besides, the delegates will deliberate upon the neglect of the issues of working class, peasants and youth, neo-liberal economic policies, which have played havoc in the country since the days of its implementation in early 1990’s. Apart from CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Central Secreteriat Member CPI (M) Joginder Sharma, senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and State Secretary Ghulam Nabi Malik are scheduled to address the opening session of the two-day Conference on March 19 at 12 noon.

The conference, being held once in three years, is taking place at a time when a new cycle of protests and violence has begun in Kashmir, leaving dozens dead and many more injured. Discussions on the political strategy to take on BJP at state and the national level are also expected to be held during the Conference. The Conference, being held ahead of crucial 2019 Parliament elections, will also discuss threadbare party's political and organizational report and the tactical line to be adopted in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The participants will also deliberate upon the BJP led Central Government’s communal authoritarian agenda, corruption, mis-governance and anti-people policies which have been exposed in public in only four years of its rule.(KNO)
